No to NRC, yes to minority reservations

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandraskehar Rao on Sunday said in the Assembly that the state government has not received any orders pertaining to the National Register for Citizens (NRC) from the Union of India.

While initiating a reply to the debate on the Appropriation Bill in the House, the chief minister told the MIM MLA Mauzzam Khan that so far they did not receive any communication or instructions from the centre on the NRC.

Earlier the MIM MLA told the house that the people of the state, particularly the people of Hyderabad, were worrying with speculations over the NRC.

The Chief Minister said that “There is no need to worry. We will not allow any such move. We will ensure the safety of citizens of the state. If any communication is received in this regard, the government will certainly share with the members of the house and also involve all parties, should any such situation arise in the future.”

Referring to the issues raised by the MIM member with regard to the re-constitution of the Telangana Wakf Board, Mr Rao said that all the issues will be considered by the state government.
