Liquor Sales: Telangana ranks at top in Southern States

Hyderabad: The highest liquor sale growth was recorded in Telangana, with the state registered growth of 20.11% in seven months between April to October 2018 in comparison to the corresponding period in 2017. While Telangana smashed all records among the states in South India with the highest growth rate in liquor sales, Andhra Pradesh was not far behind and registered a growth of 19% in its overall liquor sale.
Telangana and AP were followed by Tamil Nadu which recorded a liquor sale growth rate at 17.7% during the same period followed by Kerala at 15.15% and Karnataka at 12.1%.
Telangana alone recorded a liquor sale worth Rs 11894 crore between April and October 2018 compared to the same period in 2017, while Andhra Pradesh followed close second with a recorded Rs 9720 crore in 2017 and Rs 11567 crore in 2018 during the same period.
On New Year’s Eve 2018, Telangana recorded liquor sales worth Rs 133 crore while Andhra Pradesh stood at Rs 118 crore. By 2019 Jan 2nd, the liquor sales in Telangana dropped by 30% as compared to Dec 31st.
