50 lakh women link arms forming human chain

Around 50 lakh women in Kerala, linked hands to form a human chain, in a massive protest against their discrimination in entering Lord Ayappa Swamy temple at Sabarimala.
The protestors, responding to a call by a Kerala Women's organisation, came out their homes and formed a human chain upto 620 kms, cutting across several districts. At Kozhikode, some mischief-mongers threw stones at the women. But this did not deter them. Police present at the place dispersed the rioting mob and provided security to the women.
