Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao made a startling revelation on Sunday that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted to join hands with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the coming Assembly elections, but the ruling party rejected the proposal in the larger interests of the people of Telangana.

Recalling the discussion that Naidu had with the TRS leadership during senior TDP leader N Harikrishna’s funeral in the city, Rama Rao said the TDP chief had expressed his desire to forge an alliance with the TRS which was, however, rejected. The Minister was addressing a gathering during ‘Mana Hyderabad – Mana Andari Hyderabad’ programme at Nizampet which has a sizeable Seemandhra population.

Stating that Naidu had said he had some obligations to stand by Telangana TDP leaders as the reason for the proposal, the Minister said such a scenario was virtually impossible since the former had made an attempt to dethrone the TRS government during the MLC elections, besides trying to stall Kaleshwaram and Palamuru Lift Irrigation projects. “We politely pointed out to him that with such differences existing between the two government, it would not be possible to form an alliance,” he said.
