HYDERABAD : The 126th birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar celebrated on Friday seems to have provided another opportunity to opposition parties in state to corner Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by recalling his unfulfilled promise of making a dalit as first CM of state.

From TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy to TDP TS unit president L Ramana and all other leaders belonging to opposition parties tried to rake up the issue of not making a dalit leader as the first CM of the new state.

After paying tributes to BR Ambedkar at their respective party offices here on Friday, both Uttam and Ramana came down heavily on CM for not keeping his promise.

“During the Telangana movement, in the capacity of the TRS president, KCR repeatedly promised that once the new State was formed, he would make a dalit as the first CM of the State.

Leave alone, keeping this promise, the CM has not fully utilised funds allotted for the welfare of dalits in the State budget under SC sub plan.

Instead, his government diverted the funds earmarked for SCs to other works, which is violation of the Constitutional norms,” TPCC chief Uttam attacked.
