The administration is getting ready for the conduct of panchayat elections. The elections are expected to be conducted in the second or third week of next month and notification may be issued in the first week.

The corrections were made in the voters list and the list was released on May 17th. As per the final list there are 6,56,453 registered voters in 647 panchayats spread across the district, according to the district administration. Out of them 3,32,377 are men and 3,24,025 women. There are 5,778 wards in these panchayats.

There are five — Sangareddy, Patancheru, Andol, Zaheerabad and Narayanakhed — assembly constituencies in the district spread in three divisions Sangareddy, Zaheerabad and Narayanakhed. Among these Sangareddy is the biggest with 288 panchayats spread over 13 mandals with 3,28,969 votes followed by Zaheerabad with 169 panchayats in six mandals with 1,78,280 voters and Narayanakhed with 190 panchayats in six mandals with 1,49,204 voters. It was stated that the government has been planning the panchayat elections feeling that this would be the right time to attract the votes from rural public as Rytu Bandhu assistance extended to them will be fresh in the minds of people in villages.

“The winning in panchayat elections will be with small margin and recent distribution of Rytu Bandhu will benefit the ruling party naturally. This will be base for the next general elections to network and win,” said an officer on condition of anonymity.
